Caerleon railway station is a former station serving Caerleon on the east side of the city of Newport. It was opened on the Pontypool, Caerleon and Newport Railway line in 1878 after the PC&N had already been absorbed into the Great Western Railway. It was closed to passengers on April 30, 1962 and closed to all traffic on November 29, 1965.[1] The Newport City Council unitary development plan and Sewta rail strategy plan for the station to be re-opened in the near future.[2]
